BARE is an interdisciplinary theatre and film organization that centers transformative storytelling to expose truths and give voice to that which is silenced and/or hidden, to empower and be in service of artists and form community, and to reimagine and revolutionize the landscape of the industry. We tell stories that bare the truth while bearing together. Doing so by diving in with both hands and big love to the infinite depths of human experiences.

We are BARE: In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Bonita Jackson and Anna Newbury were two theatre grad students living in Florida. With live-theatre being shut down, they were in deep need of making art of some kind. Art that they believed in. Though they had never made a film before, a short film competition caught their attention. With an artistic hunger, an idea, and a borrowed camera, they filmed their first film in Anna’s bathroom! And now, almost two years later, we are award-winning and nominated filmmakers, who are currently writing an epic series. Our film Beneath the Sound won Best Original Story at the 2021 FLOW Film Festival; and our film Drowning Above Water won the WE REEL BLACT Viewer’s Choice Award.
